Dressed up Dresser

With all this new found time on my hands (thank you school....I missed you so much!!!) I've been able to get a few more projects done.  Picked up this dresser and knew it had a second more fabulous life hiding somewhere in there!

And the After....

Remember how mad I was when I found these pulls that were half the price of the ones I used for my son's Rast hack.  Well you get what you pay for.  His are definitely heavier duty but these are perfectly fine too, just not the exact same.

BRASS LABEL HOLDER
 $2.69 each
Van Dyke's

I did not fill the holes from the previous pulls because y'all know I'm super lazy.  Plus it looks cuter with paper in anyway...or at least that's what I'm telling myself!

I jazzed it up a little with blue paper, just to see what it would look like.  I like it but think I'm more partial to the neutral white.

I used a different type of protective coat this time.  Usually I use oil based polyurethane for dark paint and water based for white (oil based turns yellow with time and will show on white paint).  I've been wanting to try wax for a long time and finally found some at Ace Hardware.  I loved it!  I will definitely be using it again. You just rub it on with a rag and your done.  It's more of a matte finish, which I like.

So one more time....Before:

I will be dropping this at Class and Trash soon.
The hardware company shorted me two screws so I'm waiting on those before I do.
Pricing it at $85.

Have a great day everyone!!!

** Side Note**
The fabulous Parks Duffey signed, framed and matted UVA art in the photos is currently for sale in my booth at Class for $95.  I know his signed prints cost $65 without framing or matting and the retail price tag is on the art for $365!!!!  I have a U of R Parks Duffey print that I adore.  Love his stuff!

Class Finds

I dropped off a few things at Class and Trash this morning.
Wanted to share some finds I saw on my way out!

Coolest Chair- $45
This would be such an easy reupholstery job as long as its easy to get the nailhead off,
swap out the fabric and re-nailhead it up!  Maybe paint it to camouflage the missing pieces on the top.

How fun for a little girls room!
$95

Love me a barrister bookcase, this one is metal.
I was so in awe I forgot to ask the price!

We Are in a MAJOR Fight!

Why has no one told me of this mecca called Tuesday Morning?
My neighbor friend just told me about it the other day and I was clueless.
For some reason I thought Tuesday Morning was a Christian bookstore/supply store place.
Where I got that...I have no idea!

Anyway, it's kind of like a TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Home Goods.
Some really cute stuff mixed in with some crappy stuff.

Here's what I was crushing on!

8 X 10 rug $499

$159

$17.99

Queen Size is $299
Think they had King too.

Industrial Coffee Table $199

$59

$25

So who knew about this and didn't tell me!?!
Does anyone know if they do any coupons like Hobby Lobby?
I thought I saw something like a frequent customer card or something hanging in the window.

** Get out of town!  I just went to get a link for you guys and found out...
You can order online too!!!
I know what I'm doing at naptime today!!!

Recently Added

I haven't given you all a peek into my Class and Trash booth in a while.  I've added a few things and had some time to make it a little prettier now that the kiddos are in school and I have a little more time.  I hesitate writing posts like this because I never want you all to feel like I'm asking you to buy stuff.  I never want this blog to be about that so hopefully you all don't feel that way!  Just wanted to keep you in the loop of what I'm up to over there!

Just added this pretty lady.

(Update: She's sold already...thank you whoever you are!!!)

It looks good in the pic  but trust me, it needs a paint job.
All the hardware is there and it has dovetail
joints which is a good sign.

I love the chairs in the back row, hate the fabric.  I got them at an auction selling stuff from an antique mall where they were priced for $265.  I have them priced at $40 each.  The yellow ones are $30 each.

Lots of blue and white goodies.

Remember my boat I picked up a looooong time ago!

Here it is after a paint job!  It also  has some cute gold detailing on the back you can't see.  Still think it would make such a fun headboard.

Boat- $125

I still have this desk that I just marked down to $100.  I love that thing.  Can't believe it hasn't sold yet!

I can't thank you all enough for your support with this booth.  The Class and Trash folks are always telling me my readers bought this and that.  Makes my day, so THANK YOU!!!

If you see anything you can't live without give them a call!

Verve Home Furnishings

Richmonder's, have you all heard of Verve Home Furnishings?

I've been following Kim on Facebook for a while and loved what she was posting
so finally bit the bullet and went to her warehouse that's open on Saturdays.

It is seriously chalk full of fabulously unique vintage and mid-century modern finds.
Now the prices at Verve are not Goodwill-esque but they are negotiable which I love.
I basically started drooling the second I walked in til the minute I left.
Such cool stuff.

Here's just a sampling.

This was a fun find.
Not loving the glass detail but you could easily cut a piece of snakeskin fabric to fit right on top of that and it would be GLAM-A-rific!

Remember I did that with this tray.

I had an internal battle about bringing that bar cart home but I already have one so that would just be silly!  Thought the price was really fair at $60.

I actually picked up these vintage red ski's for my son's room.  Going to hang them on the wall.

I wanted to get the blue ones which were priced at $45 but his walls are blue
so I thought the red would pop more.

Anyway!
Loved visiting, everyone was super friendly there.
It's right near Broad and Staples Mill.
If you're in the area give them a visit!

Chalkboard Paint to the Rescue

I'm currently in the process of updating my 6 year old son's bedroom.
Since he is now a big bad Kindergartner I thought it could be a little cooler considering most of his decor has been there since he was born.

We purchased this bunk bed off Overstock.  Both of our parents and my sister and her family live out of town and we get lots of visitors so this was the perfect solution to cram more bodies in and not be tripping over people sleeping all over the floor.

Plus, what kid could refuse a bunk bed!?!
To say he was thrilled was an understatement.

(this is the image from Overstock...not his actual room!)

I'm pretty happy with it.
It's not the most quality bed I've ever seen but my son loves it
(and my daughter who has opted to sleep in the bottom bunk
as opposed to her bed since day 1.
I have to say it's pretty sweet to walk in there at night and see
them sleeping in the same room.)

Anyway, in addition to the bed, I've added the Rast Dresser redo and this project.
I found this bouncy ball machine ( I think it was around $30) which I kind of fell in love with and thought would be a fun addition to the room.  Slight problem was that it didn't come with a key to unlock and reload the machine so I had to get a little creative.  As is, it was basically useless and looked a little odd empty.

So I decided to turn the front part into a chalkboard.
I taped up the sides and sanded the plastic a little to help the paint stick.

With about 3 coats of chalkboard paint it was ready to go!

I've got more work to do in the room but hopefully I can do a whole room view soon.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Ikea Rast Hack

The sounds and smells of back to school are strong at our house.
No, it's not the smell of markers and the squeak of bus breaks...
it's the sweet sound of power tools, and smell of paint fumes and sawdust !!!
Mommy's got her free time back!!!

I finished up a project for my son's room that I wanted to share.
Remember my $13 Ikea Rast I picked up at Goodwill...

With a little stain and some flashy new hardware, I'm loving the new look.

It's hard to get a good photo with the lighting and the crazy reflections
but I'm just mad about the catalog bin pulls.
And at $2.69 a pop, It makes you kind of feel like your stealing...
that is unless you paid double for them on another website only to find them cheaper
after said order was placed.
Then you feel more like you were robbed blind!  But that's beside the point.

Hope you all like!  Happy Friday Everyone!
Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

Linking up to these lovelies!

Total Randomness

UGH!  Don't you hate it when you buy something online then find it for a better price.  Well that just happened.  Remember my pulls for my Ikea Rast.  Well I'll be darned if I didn't find then for half the price!
BRASS LABEL HOLDER
$2.69

And here goes the rest of the randomness.  Isn't this top cute from JCPenny.  Saw it in the Sunday catalog.  That dalmatian look is everywhere, I feel like, and I love the tie on this one.  I feel like those pants are a little long in the crotch, if you know what I mean, and the jacket is a little too Dr. Oz for my taste but I do love the blouse.  And for $22 bucks...please.

More JCP goodness.  This dress is cute, right.  It's from their MNG by Mango line which is a higher end European company bringing affordable options to the JCP.  I actually bought a different dress from them that I love earlier this year.

$40

And last but not least,

Class and Trash has this IKEA chair for $35...you could easily buy a new slipcover for it and bam!
Good as new.  Perfect for a bedroom  or really anywhere.
