Mantel Headboard

I've been toying with the idea of turning an old fireplace mantel into a headboard for our master bedroom.  I found this at one of my favorite places (Through the Garden Gate Antiques) this weekend for only $50!!!  It just needs some simple cleaning and a new coat of paint.  I just got my garage back in order and can park my car inside again...I'm sure my husband will be thrilled with this new project!

Here's some inspiration pics!

I love the idea of layering frames on the mantel...love the large letters on the last inspiration pic.  I've seen those at Homegoods and been trying to find a place to put them!   We'll see!  Maybe I'll offer for Alex to go play golf this weekend then he will be more inclined to help me get this hunk of a thing home ;)

  2. I'm getting extra jealous that I didn't take advantage of all the awesome thrift stores when I lived in RVA.. not that I don't already have enough dressers to refinish still, but that's beside the point.

Come visit www.thisthoughtprocess.blogspot.com, I'll be having some thrifty finds renovations soon too!
