China Cabinet Progress

So I'm making some progress on my china cabinet

This is its current state...pretty pitiful but getting closer to a finished product.

Remember this is what it looked like when I bought it.

I decided to go with Martha Stewart's "Picket Fence."  It's basically white...but with a cuter name!  I had it color matched to the Behr paint and primer.  I like that stuff because you don't have to prime first (I'm SUPER lazy when it comes to painting!)  I have at least another coat to go before it's finished.

While that is going well I've hit a bit of a wall on the other part of the project.  I have this vision to put some fun pink trellis or lattice paper behind the shelves but can't find it anywhere.   I take that back.  I can't find it anywhere that I won't have to take out a second mortgage to afford!

Here are some inspiration fabrics or paper!

Schumacher Imperial Trellis in Raspberry

Manuel Canovas Lilac Trellis Wallpaper 6 Rolls $800.00
Now that price is just plain ridiculous!

Anyone have any tips on where I can find something like these?  I would be forever grateful!

P.S.  This is what I found on my camera when I downloaded my half painted cabinet to my computer!

Gotta love finding 4 year old self portraits taken while no one was looking!

It runs in the family

Remember a few posts ago I told you how my sister bought a crazy expensive piece of distressed wood from Restoration Hardware?  Well she's done me proud and definitely made up for that misstep!  She is about to have a baby and has moved her two boys into the same room.  She fell in love with this room from Serena and Lily.

But refused to pay their $1028  price tag!  So she DIY'd it and look how cute it turned out!

She wrote about it over at her blog so I stole her pics and cost breakdown.  Here it is!

Twin Duvet and (7 yards of Ikea fabric )...................    $56.00
Euro Sham (made from left over duvet fabric).............................$ 0.00
Twin Quilt (from Target --included regular sham! Bonus!).............   $29.00
Initial pillow- Yet to be made! (but lets be honest, my boys already have two more pillows than they use on their bed so I am sure that will get made sometime between now and their next room make over!)
Sub Total (for new bedding)/...............................................   $ 85.00

Even if I include the accessories-I come in $402.00 LESS!:
Frame(Ikea) ......................................................................$ 14.99
Letter.................................................................................$ 3.00
Bookshelf (is really a picture ledge from Ikea)...............................$ 9.99
Grand Total Room Make-over........... ..........$112.98

AMAZING!  Now can I borrow mom to sew me some pillows for my living room please!

P.S.  My sister sells the most adorable baby stuff so go check out her etsy shop and keep your eyes out for a giveaway from her shop next week!

Out and About-Class and Trash (again!)

I think I might be starting to frighten the people who work at Class and Trash.  I frequent there way to often...almost in a stalkerish kind of way!

I had no intentions of going yesterday but my crafty friend Eva, who made the amazing headboard, called and begged (maybe just asked, but begged makes me sound less crazy!) me to go with her, so how could I say no to that!  Of course I found amazing stuff, it's Class and Trash after all!

I am IN LOVE with this china cabinet!  The trellis pattern on the glass is TO DIE FOR!  And the price was insanely affordable!  Too bad I just bought a china cabinet or this bad boy would have come home with me!

Class and Trash $125

There were two of these matching dressers.  Perfect for a set of twins sharing a room.  Wouldn't they look so cute in a room with Jenny Lind twin beds?   Paint them up and change the pulls and they will be good as new.

Class and Trash $65

Close up of the mirror detail

How cute would this vanity be painted pink or white in a little girls room!  Let her put on her "make-up" while sitting on the bench you can recover in a fun fabric.

Class and Trash
Emerson was starting to loose her marbles, I think it was around $60 for both (but don't quote me on that!)

And we might have hopped over to Goodwill after.  I saw this:

Goodwill $35

Look at the transformation I found over at betterafter.blogspot.com

Kinda fun painted white, right!?  Love how the metal pieces really stand out against the white!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Out and About- TJMaxx

When they say "You get the max for the minimum at TJ Maxx"  They aren't kidding!  I found some really cute stuff at the West Broad St one.  They have a TON of furniture and home decor at this store.  Here are some of the things I was loving but didn't buy...I think I need to go on a spending freeze...been going a little overboard lately!

Lovely outdoor chairs with THE CUTEST fabric! $69.99 (regular $120)

I am seriously in love with the fabric on the back!  Wonder if they are reversible!

Unique side table- $49.99 (regular $100)

Ralph Lauren Floor Lamp- $149.99 (Regular $470)

Did you all see the pendant lamp Mr. Goodwill Hunting (BLOG CRUSH!!!) found at Marshalls?  It's a match to this Ralph floor lamp.  Can't wait to see his up in his place!

Garden Stool - $49.99 (regular 90.00)
Not loving the green?  You could always spray paint it white.

Marble topped island- $199.99 (regular $375)

JCrew Sample Sale!

I had to run over to TJ Maxx to find a lamp for my living room and what did I spot out of the corner of my eye but this!

And you would not believe the sales they had going on in there.  All shoes were $10...WHAT!  AND to make it even more impossible to leave empty handed your entire purchase is 20% off.  There were TONS of shoes, lots of wedding dresses and a good amount of cothing.  I don't have the patience to search the clothes so I skipped that all together (they were in boxes).

Emerson must have know what a momentus occasion this was becuase she was good as GOLD!  I sifted through shoe box after shoe box and she didn't make a peep.  The sample sale angels were definitely with me today!

I came home with these...but could have gotten so much more!

I think these are my fav...10 bucks...craziness.

Love these too!

And who can resist a $10 JCrew shabootie with a back zipper...not me!

So if you live in the Richmond area hurry and get your bootie over to the JCrew sale.  It's next to the TJMaxx on Broad St.

Now I'm off to get a pedicure so my toes look pretty in all these shoes....wait, I WISH I was off to get a pedicure.  I'm really off to clean up my house, take a much needed shower and pray my kids take extra long naps.

From the offices of Sterling Cooper

Remember yesterday I told you I bought something.  Well here it is!

Isn't it so Mad Men!  Can't you see Don Draper grabbing a glass right out of there for his whiskey or whatever it is they drink on that show!

I had no intention of buying anything yesterday but this mid-century china cabinet totally caught my eye...and let me tell you how much this bad boy cost me...$64 (including tax)!!!!  Honestly, I had to ask the woman at Class and Trash if there was something seriously wrong with it that I couldn't see.  That is like the cost of a cheap dinner out for two (we tend to drink a lot of wine so that is a cheap night for us!)

It's  kind of fun the way it is but I am definitely going to change it up.  There is a little damage I'm hoping will be an easy fix.  I'm thinking about putting some fun fabric or wallpaper on the inside behind the shelves and painting it.  Just not sure what color yet.  It's going in my dining room and my buffet is white so I'm leaning towards that.

Using these as inspiration:

This is currently babysitting the space where my new china cabinet will go:

I've hated this thing from the second it was delivered.  It was impossible to put together and WAY to small for the space.
Anyone redone a china cabinet lately?

Shopper's High

I'm back from thrifting this morning and on a total shopper's high!  Let me show you what I found that I DIDN'T buy in case any of you want to go buy these things up!

Fun leather(ish) Ottoman

Goodwill Ashland $45

Interesting way to spell Ottoman...and I thought my spelling was bad!

Wouldn't this Tobacco Basket look so neat hanging on a wall.  Great way to add texture to a room!

Class and Trash $45

This dresser is really gorgeous!  My photo is not doing it justice.  It's much darker then the photo is showing. It was dark and I had to use my flash.  If you are totally obsessed with bamboo, like I am, you will LOVE the pulls!

Class and Trash $185

I don't think these will last long AT ALL.  They are plastic (I think!) but look like the very popular lucite that I am seeing all over the blog world. There were two.
Class and Trash $38

Class and Trash $38

I DID end up buying something for myself which I will show you tomorrow.  It was SUCH an amazing deal!!!  Perhaps even better than the highboy deal!  I couldn't pass it up.  I can't wait to get my hands on it and change it up!

The hubby doesn't yet know about the purchase or the fact that he has to go back and lug it into the car!  Eeeek!  Might have to let him play a round of golf this weekend as bribery!  If your reading this honey...I love you ;)
