China Cabinet Progress

So I'm making some progress on my china cabinet

This is its current state...pretty pitiful but getting closer to a finished product.

Remember this is what it looked like when I bought it.

I decided to go with Martha Stewart's "Picket Fence."  It's basically white...but with a cuter name!  I had it color matched to the Behr paint and primer.  I like that stuff because you don't have to prime first (I'm SUPER lazy when it comes to painting!)  I have at least another coat to go before it's finished.

While that is going well I've hit a bit of a wall on the other part of the project.  I have this vision to put some fun pink trellis or lattice paper behind the shelves but can't find it anywhere.   I take that back.  I can't find it anywhere that I won't have to take out a second mortgage to afford!

Here are some inspiration fabrics or paper!

Schumacher Imperial Trellis in Raspberry

Manuel Canovas Lilac Trellis Wallpaper 6 Rolls $800.00
Now that price is just plain ridiculous!

Anyone have any tips on where I can find something like these?  I would be forever grateful!

P.S.  This is what I found on my camera when I downloaded my half painted cabinet to my computer!

Gotta love finding 4 year old self portraits taken while no one was looking!

  1. have you tried U-Fab for fabric options instead of wallpaper? They have an awesome remnant section in the back that might have what you're looking for...

  5. i don't have any tips on the paper, but you could actually use fabric as well and mod podge it on or use a fabric adhesive. just a thought!

  6. Hi Erin! Love your projects. I was looking for trellis wallpaper when decorating the nursery (we ended up painting). I know it is a painful task! I found some cute green trellis paper at ballard designs- check out their website. I don't think they have pink though, and I don't think it's v. cheap - thus our paint job instead of wall papering. Good luck!!

  12. I think a lot depends on what you will have in FRONT of the paper, i.e. is the paper is to be the background, or recede, or do you want it to come out in "front" of the objects? I'd pick number 4, because it's lovely, more likely to recede a bit behind dishware, while still adding the color ad pattern and light.

Can't wait to see the finished product, and looking around my house to see what I can revitalize in the same way.

  13. @Erin, Yep my husband owns and runs u-fab! I am just their saavy graphic designer, supporter and fabric thief. I think we have several options for your china cabinet that could work, if you are still undecided. You should come by and check out the shop, either way I think you will love the inventory if the Moorish tile gets you excited!
