Some of my faves

It is hard to believe that there are people other than my family and friends reading this blog but apparently there is one ;)  Deb is going thrifting with her sister this weekend (lucky!) and wanted to know where I shop.  So here goes.  These are a few of my favorite places where I seem to have good luck.  If anyone has any more to add please do.  I split it up by different Richmond areas.

Northside:

Lakeside Ave (Near Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens) has many thrift stores.  Here are some of my faves:
                       * Pass It On!
                       * Feathernesters
                       Arneda's Thrift and Gift
                       * Consignment Connection
                        McAdoo's
                        Robin's Nest Antiques
                        Whispers of Time
These are all within a mile or two from each other.  One stop shopping!

Mechanicsville Turnpike:
                        Habitat ReStore
                        Goodwill
                        Salvation Army Family Store

Rt. 301  (Chamberlayne Ave)
                       * Through the Garden Gate Antiques

Rt. 1 (Brook Rd)
                       * Class and Trash

Southside: (I'm not as familiar with this area but here is a website with a bunch of Midlothian stores http://www.thethriftshopper.com/city/Midlothian/VA/1.htm

                      * Love of Jesus Thrift
                      * Midlothian Antiques Center
                      * Salvation Army

Richmond City:
                     *Diversity Thrift
                     *Salvation Army
                     Habitat ReStore

Henrico:
                   Impulse
                   Goodwill (there are two on Broad St.)
                   Hope Thrift

I'm sure there are lots more but hopefully this is a good start.  I've starred the ones that have a pretty big selection of furniture.

Happy thrifting Deb, and anyone else going out this weekend!  Oh, if you are going to be at Goodwill here is a 20% coupon (for VA only) http://tinyurl.com/49zmlb3 .  Maybe I will see you there!  I'll be the one with the screaming child throwing Cheerios all over the store!

  7. The Goodwill Outlet! One of my absolute favorite places to thrift.

    There are also Goodwills in Southside (that I know of), right off the Midlothian Turnpike. One's closer in to the city and the other is down near Alverser.

    And The Clothes Rack is in Bon Air on Forest Hill Ave.

  8. I know you posted this a while back, but I just noticed it on your sidebar. Thanks so much for posting it. I am in Mechanicsville, and usually stick with Goodwill and Habitat, but have been wanting to branch out. No doubt we have probably been in a thrift store at the same time at some point, LOL. I love your projects! Check out my site if you get a chance! www.justpleasedaspunch.blogspot.com.

  9. Y'all MUST visit the new shoppe, Revival, in Gayton Crossing! Such a treasure chest and always adding new pieces. Don't you love the name!?! The owner, Whitney, is great and they have original art work by local artists. Well worth your time! ;)

  10. This is great! Thank you so much for sharing your favorites with us. I am new to Richmond, a new home owner and newly married - so I have a home to furnish but of course the budget is tight. I love refinishing furniture but I was having a hard time finding inexpensive, yet solid furniture to work on. Thanks for the head start!

  11. There's a Clothes Rack on Cary Street that's run by the Jr. league. They have some really nice clothing! I live in Mechanicsville so 2 of my favorites are Class and Trash, and Through the Garden Gate Antiques. Thanks for sharing your list!
