Placemats...more than just tableware!

During my visit to Pier 1 the other day I found another fun and simple project!  My family room color scheme is Red and Turquoise/robin egg blue-ish (inspired by Tobi Fairley's room in the Richmond Symphony House) and I have these frames that I am constantly changing out.  When I saw this placemat I thought it would work perfectly layered on top of some blue fabric.  Here's how it looks in its new home!

Pier 1- $2.95

Please ignore the ugly golf magazine hanging from the shutter...my husband doesn't get that we only put "cute" magazines that match our decor on there!

PS.  The shutters are from Class and Trash (I think $10 each)  I have those hanging on each side of the fireplace.  I painted them and sanded them for a distressed look.  The knobs that the frame is hanging on is from Through the Garden Gate ($5 i think)

  1. I always love using placemats for things other than their intended purpose. I hang them up in frames like this most often but some of them make great wrapping paper for small things too! I like this a lot and the shutter idea is being added to my list!
