Antler Dyslexia

You guys, this is how moronic I am...I thought those two holes on the skull thingy were eye sockets...so I just hung them up so the eyes were in the right spot!!!  Maybe I should take a class in taxidermy!  Can you imagine how small the eyes would have to be to fit in those sockets!!!  No wonder he was hunted down...can't see shi*...pardon my language!

BEFORE:

AFTER!

I am not playing with a full deck ladies and gentleman.  Oh, and a side note.  I also could not find my car in the grocery store parking lot yesterday.  Our grocery store brings your bags out for you making matters so much worse.  I laughingly told the guy I couldn't remember where I parked, proceeded to sound my car alarm for clue #1.  Found the car (forgot I parked in an area I usually don't park) and apologized to the young chap bringing my groceries out.  He made me feel much better by telling me that "people get lost trying to find their cars but this is really bad!"  I'm 31 years old going on 90!  So clearly yesterday was not my brightest hour.

Thanks to my loyal readers I've reversed the antlers and they are looking fabulous.  I think I'll keep 'em this way!  And every time I look at them I will  be reminded of what a looney tune I am!

  1. Hilarious! I can hear my husband saying, "Oh, well, uh, I thought you must have wanted them that way..." Really, what are they here for if not to tell us the right way to hang a dead animal head on the wall?

  3. I think they look fine either way. Pointed up they kind of look like tusks! I'm not a huge fan of wildlife on the wall but your take on this has made them look way better to my sensibilities! Well done! P.S. You are not alone in losing your car in the parking lot! Happens to me, truth be told, probably has happened to everyone!

  5. I would have hung them the same way! And I lose my car in the parking lot quite often....it is just that are minds are on to more important things than remembering where we parked lol

  6. Since you are displaying this as art I don't really think it matters which way they face, but you should trust your gut, you had it right the first time! Those holes are right next to where the eyes would be if the rest of the face was there. Here is an example: http://www.taxidermy-stilllife.com/products/deer/euromt.html. It's called a European mount in the taxidermy world. I have one but when I got married I was informed that it was not allowed to hang on the wall. My wife said it looked at her weird! So bravo to you.

  9. You are too funny - glad you got that sorted out! I think it's so funny how many people are in love with antlers right now. Here I am fussing at my husband to get his antlers OUT of my soon to be craft room - and everyone else is embracing them! Sigh, the life of a hunters wife. I may just have to steal a rack & paint them to go in my craft room - I'm slowly coming around to this look!!!
