Soooo, when I spotted some while out on a thrifting excursion I had to snatch them up....as nasty and grossed out as I was. They were filthy and I'm pretty sure a family of something gross once lived in the poor thing. I made my husband remove something furry, that he called "dust" but I think was something far grosser. It makes me cringe just imagining what it may have been!
I don't have a before picture but here is the after. All cleaned up and hanging in our master. I was considering hanging them downstairs but thought I might frighten visitors so I opted for a room less traveled by friends and family.
I spray painted them glossy white and taped off the ends. I used my favorite rub 'n buff to give it some girly flare.
I am not a hunter and think its rather disgusting and sad and I certainly am not encouraging you to go hunt down your own set (a disclaimer in case the gaming authority is reading)...but aren't they kind of cute?!
So what do you all think? Are you horrified and disgusted, never to return to the blog again or can you forgive me and embrace my antler loving ways?!?

Okay.....so.... a view readers have mentioned that I may have hung them upside down...to which I felt like a complete idiot and looked at my husband and was like...are they upside down!?!?! And he replied, yeah, I think so. To which I said, well why didn't you say anything when I hung them up that way!!!!! Would have been nice to know before I posted it for the world to see!!!! Anyway, so I tried flipping them around and it looks a little weird that way too. I think they would look right if I had the skull part horizontal (if that makes sense), but I cant hang them on a wall like that so either way they are going to look funny. I'll take pics the other way tomorrow and we can take a vote what looks better. Click HERE to see those!
Linking up with these lovely ladies!
I'm all for embracing this trend if it works in your space. And I love your girly spin! I don't have any real ones, just a small silver colored set I bought from Home Goods. I'm sure the animal yours came from served a family well once upon a time. The hunters I know do eat the meat and don't hunt just for sport. My husband is not a hunter, though, and I can't say I'm not glad!

ReplyDeleteCute! Did you hang them upside down??
ReplyDeleteI think they re upside down too and definitely different !!!!
ReplyDeleteHey ladies! So I think you may be right...but I just tried to flip them and they looked a little weird that way too! I think the skull (yuck!) section they left should be horizontal for them to look right (if that makes sense) but since that won't work hanging on a wall either way looks wrong. I'll post pics tomorrow and show you all the other way and we can take a vote! Thanks for bringing it to my attention !!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of the antler fad, except maybe for Halloween. If you love it, then go for it.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the antler trend :) I like how you added some flair to the ends. I do think they may be upside down, but want to see pics of them the other way. Hmmmmm.
