Card Catalog Wanna Be

I picked up this metal military file this weekend to try to fill the void I feel from not owning an authentic wooden card catalog.  I do love it, but I still feel that empty feeling only a real life library card catalog can fill ;)

This guy is pretty dinged up but, considering its been through a war or two, its kind of rustically chic.  In the right space I think it would be so cool.  I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep it or sell it.  I think it would look so fabulous with some tall hair pin legs added and maybe used as a console table of sorts.  Here are some inspirational photos for your viewing pleasure!

Or maybe some wheels???

So what do you all think?  Would you ever put such a rust bucket in your home?  Think its needs a coat of paint?  Can you even paint over rust?  I'm kind of at a loss here, I just know I love it and that's where it stands...and my hopes and dreams of parking in the garage dwindle with every shopping excursion!

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

  1. I should feel ashamed. I have a card catalog and haven't even began to use it.

This one is actually great. Would be great in a boutique.

  2. I love the rustic vibe it's giving. Adding the legs is a great idea. Not sure I'd be able to part with this one. Great find!

  3. According to redeem the house for sale category, there are three departments - the house sold before the foreclosure sale foreclosure auctions and bank recovered, the REO sale of the house or property with a house.
