My mom has totally caught the thrifting bug! And she hit it big last week!!! How fab is this barrister bookcase she snagged?!?!
She found it at Goodwill (natch!) and cost her a measly $27!!! The glass was covered with what she thinks was leather-ish wallpaper (not sure if that even exists but we are going with it!). She used Zinsser wallpaper remover and it worked like a charm! Did I mention I <3 Zinsser! Their primer is the bomb and this was pretty fantastic too!
And if my sister who just moved to Richmond didn't have enough amazing and unique furniture (card catalog, campaign dresser, etc etc etc) my mom is handing this puppy over to her to add to her new apartment. Something only a mother could do. You'd have to rip this out of my death grip, with me kicking and screaming, in order to get it from me.
So now the question is...what to do next!!! My sister is thinking white with a pop of coral inside since those are the colors in the room where she'll be using it. There's not too many of these redo's floating around the blogosphere or I would have added some inspiration photos.
I'll keep you updated! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Anyone pick up anything fun?
Wow! Which Goodwill?
ReplyDeleteOh! She lives in CT Linda!
ReplyDeletewow that was a beautiful score!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is cool...I'm in myrtle beach this week, and will be checking out the Goodwills while I'm here. Btw...I bought a piece of a black trellis gate last week at Class and Trash and painted it white....it made a perfect headboard. I told Lisa to stop giving you all the good deals...lol!
ReplyDeletePicked up this mid century china cabinet off CL for $15! I'm thinking about removing the hutch so it's more marketable (and portable) as a dresser/buffet.
ReplyDeleteGreat score mom!
Love it!! And I agree with you, I don't think I'd easily hand that over. : )
ReplyDeleteJealous! What a great find!!
ReplyDeleteY'all find the best stuff at your Goodwill! I've found a few goodies at mine... but it has a lot of junk, too. LOL
ReplyDeleteI think your sister is on the right track. The coral would be a lovely pop of color.
Check out this re-do of a similar bookcase. It's country cute with the addition of chicken wire... but love how the inside is painted that aqua blue color.
Well... the link would help. LOL
