Thrifty Threads or Fashion Faux-pas?

Ummmm, this is completely unrelated to thrifty home decor but I thought I had to share it.  I am completely obsessed with one shoulder clothing as of a few hours ago.  My husband has his 10 year reunion this weekend and I'm pretty sure I'm wearing one shouldered tops both nights.  I think that might be a major fashion faux-pas but I don't care!!!  And how embarrassing is this.  I bought them from the juniors (eeek!) department at Dillards.  I realize I'm 30 and have two children but the plethora of one shouldered shirts pulled me into the teeny bopper department and I couldn't help myself!

The sales associate asked me if I needed any help, AKA you are WAY to old to be shopping in this department, save yourself the embarrassment lady and leave before you make a mistake!

I wanted to make sure I couldn't find anything in the "adult" section so I took my tween tops and mosied (sp?) over there.  Didn't find anything, I guess adults don't go for one shouldered clothing, but I paid for my stuff at that register.  The woman kept mentioning how "oh this is cute, AHHHH, its from Juniors!"  She said Juniors about 7 times!

Well I thought I would share what I got because shopping juniors IS pretty thrifty!  Granted the clothes will probably turn to shreds in the wash.

Dillards $29.00

 SO be honest, do you shop in the juniors department?  Ever feel like you're getting the evil eye from the teeny boppers shopping for their taffeta prom dresses?

  1. ahh I love it! Boo to the sales clerk for over-mentioning "juniors"! I haven't shopped in the juniors section, only because I'm afraid nothing would fit...but I feel a renewed love of one shoulder tops coming on too...so chic...you rock that one bare shoulder...both nights!

  2. Very cool top. I buy juniors jeans all the time. They're the only ones that fit the way I like. (And I'm 33.) I love the one shoulder look, but haven't tried it out myself yet. I'm sure you'll look amazing. Have a great time at the reunion!

  3. I buy juniors all the time. And to be honest, I am fairly petite so I have occasionally purchased children's shoes to get the name brand I want cheaper, such as Sperrys and Rainbow flip flops. Try shopping the kids section in Saxons...that got me some weird looks.

  4. I'm thirty-six and I still shop the juniors dept. too. The clothes just fit me better. I feel like I can get a way with it as long as I don't drag my three fighting kids with me.

  5. I'm petite but the petite "womens" section looks like it's geared for Nancy Reagan so heck yeah I shop the Juniors section! For something a little bit more on trend and fun, it's a great section, and they have ALL sizes.

    @Sarah D - I have totally bought little boy's sneakers for way cheaper! :)

  6. The girl in the ad looks like she's 30, so that makes it OK, right? :) I say, go for it! You'll look beautiful.

  7. I will absolutely shop in Juniors when necessary. There is nothing wrong with that girl! As long as it is age appropriate it'll look great on us "older beauties". I'm 34 and sometimes it's very challenging to find clothes (with any true style) in the Misses section. So I quickly breeze through to check things out. I think the top you picked is perfect! I'm sure you'll look amazing in it! xo

  8. I made my first stop into Plato's Closet last night. I was told it was strictly juniors and teeny bopper stuff. So...totally...wrong. Great selection of purses, shoes, accessories, as well as clothes and not only for juniors - plus sizes as well!

  10. Hi there! Just found your blog by randomly blog hopping. Love all your DIY projects-especially your Highboy transformation!

    So I am almost thirty and have two kids and I still like to look in the juniors dept. too! They seriously have the best deals and seem to have better selection than the adult sections. So you rock those one-shoulder tops with no regrets girl!

  11. My mom is 50 and shops at Forever 21 and sometimes we end up having the same clothes from there! My mom looks great for 50 so keep on shopping at the Juniors department!

  12. That top looks great. I would still shop Juniors if those clothes would fit my plus size body. hehehe However, today I saw one shouldered tops in children's sizes. I thought that was totally wrong.
