Martha-I hope I've done you proud!

Happy Friday Everybody!  Raise your hand if you're ready for the weekend
(read: wants their husband to pull their weight around the house)

Do you all remember my $30 Martha Washington sewing table Rover mistook as a chew toy?
Here's a reminder:

Look what I found written on the back of one of the drawers

At first I thought "Oh my gosh, what if this is THE Martha Washington table, as in the one she actually used!"  Then my husband quickly reminded me they probably didn't have pencils back then.  Oh well!  A girl can dream.  My husband is pretty good with history and I usually don't question his knowledge, but do you really think they didn't have pencils back then?

Anyway, I digress...here is the finished product!

The knobs I got from Hobby Lobby.  They were 50% off 4.99.  They are kind of a frosted glass look.  The paint is the same one I used on the highboy, Behr's Trail Print.

I'm considering selling this.  I love it so much though, I'm not sure I can part with it!  But if you are interested shoot me an email!  It might help fund my next project...that and I have absolutely no room for it!

Thankful to be linking up here:

  8. I think it looks great. With the lighter trim and lighter pulls, it sort of reminds me of a soldier's uniform, all buttoned up!

  13. It's BEAUTIFUL! I so wish I had a living room in addition to our great room so I could have some "fancy" stuff. Or just more room in general. Sigh. Maybe in a few years!

Oh, whether they had pencils or not, it would likely be WAY more faded at over 200 years old, right?

  18. Hate to be the bearer of bad news...but graphite was discovered in the 1500's and pencils have been around in various forms for quite a long time....just google around... but I am sure Martha wouldn't have signed the bottom of her desk...I hope.

  24. It's a terrific fix-up. I wouldn't sell it if it's not necessary as it's too good a job on a difficult table shape. Hope you have a Happy Easter. Jane

  31. Beautiful Redo! I say don't ask your husband anymore. If he is like mine, he always rains on my parade and makes me face reality. Just pretend it was "The" Martha Washington's table.

  32. Very nice! I, too, have one sitting in storage i inherited from my grandma. But I think my mom would smack me if I painted the wood. ;-) But yours looks great and I will have to see what I can do in the future.
